Re: WJ to XJ Engine Swap
I have seen too many 'soon to be dead' engines from wrecks to really
want one. The thrust bearing on the crank can be mush. You mentioned a barrier... I would check the end play and drain the oil through a screen to see.... If you see any shavings, then think that all the rod journals had that side shear too... I think the V8 will be too wide, but anything can be made to fit with a sawsall and a torch.... I would be tempted. ;-) Mike 86/00 CJ7 Laredo, 33x9.5 BFG Muds, 'glass nose to tail in '00 88 Cherokee 235 BFG AT's Canadian Off Road Trips Photos: Non members can still view! Re: WJ to XJ Engine Swap
An XJ was built for a V6, so a small V8 would probably fit OK. They did
some coercion to get the I6 in there, initially. tw __________________________________________________ ___________________ 2003 TJ Rubicon * 2001 XJ Sport * 1971 Bill Stroppe Baja Bronco "There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness'." Re: WJ to XJ Engine Swap
It looks like something you have to pass every year:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/vi/Misc/rerf/emis.asp Do you have a test handy, and can see what they test? Like half the Kalifornia's tread mill is visual, where they input the size of the engine, I can hear the bells a whistles alarming if I tried to sneak in my 429" http://www.----------.com/ford429.jpg What my SMOG test looks like: http://www.----------.com/smog.jpg expand it so may read the categories.
