Where is best place to buy a rebuilt ax15 transmisson?
Does napa or pepboys have a good price on rebuilt transmissions? What
is considered a fair price? I even see rebuilt ones on online auctions like ebay but it seems a real pain to ship it and then ship your core back. |

Have you tried the auto wrecker? One from a 97 TJ cost me $1,000.00
Canadian 2 years ago, less then 80 K on the doner vehicle odometer, at that time I think that was about $750.00 US. <updawaz00@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:1112009715.632737.290370@l41g2000cwc.googlegr oups.com... > Does napa or pepboys have a good price on rebuilt transmissions? Re: Where is best place to buy a rebuilt ax15 transmisson?
I'll take a look into it, they have complete rebuilds on ebay for $700
(includes shipping), but I'm not sure of the quality, but Man-Trans has a 100% good feedback on 252 transactions. |

I just paid $700 US for an AX5 with 80K on it for 95 YJ. Another local (PA) source sells them for $575 but he didn't have any when I needed one. http://cathyvvvv0.tripod.com/id2.html BTW it wasn't the snap ring holding 5th gear on. http://tinyurl.com/6v52b Steve |

Rebuilt with new brass and bearings, it was something like $750-800 plus $80 shipping by bus from OK to Colorado Springs. Can't give the exact price as I was doing a conversion from a Pugeot BA 10/5 so I had no usable core and got the bellhousing, cross member, and all the clutch parts at the same time. I've seen them a little cheaper but I was satisfied with the price I got. The extra service and help I got when I hit swap glitches was worth any extra - the guy I worked with did the rebuild and knew his stuff about Jeeps. -- Will Honea |
