Vehicle inspection, 31" tires, speedo off by 10%
I'm really not worried about changing the speedo gear to compensate for
the larger tires, however, will the offset be a count against me for a vehicle state inspection (MD)? thanks |
Re: Vehicle inspection, 31" tires, speedo off by 10%
You should borrow or if you have use a GPS to check it. 31's can be
right on with it stock where the 215's were way off..... My CJ7 and my Cherokee speedometers came correct with the largest tire stock can fit or 31's and P235's respectively. Someone mistakenly changed the gear in my CJ7 for the 31's and put it way off. It became right again when I went to 33's. If you need to, you just change the gear. No one can see that it has a different gear in there and I highly doubt they are going to calibrate the speedometer for an inspection! Re: Vehicle inspection, 31" tires, speedo off by 10%
Probably not, but if it does, there is one bolt and an E-clip between you
and an accurate speedo. Remove the bolt and pull the speedo gear out. Remove the E-clip and replace the gear. Put the E-clip back on, put the gear back in - turn it to the correct alignment for the new gear - then put the bolt back in. <byrsc@comcast.net> wrote in message news:1112384230.029469.170560@g14g2000cwa.googlegr oups.com... > I'm really not worried about changing the speedo gear to compensate for > the larger tires, however, will the offset be a count against me for a > vehicle state inspection (MD)? > thanks > |
