Two (simple?) Questions...
I'd like to get a regular compass for the dash but am skeptical about
the $3.99 variety in Wally World, K-Fart and Auto Parts stores. I know it sounds silly in this day and age with GPS's, but the GPS I have my eye on is $500 and it's a few months 'till Xmas <evil grin>. My question is: Does anyone have a suggestion for or a manufacturer name of a decent compass? (trivial, I know, but I want a good one <kicking dirt>) Second: I'm still running the original Goodyear GSA's (30x9.5)with 47K miles on them (don't say it, I know...) and I'm getting a very noticeable (not severe) steering wheel shake when hitting bumps on curves. (tires getting sloppy?) I'm thinking the steering stabilizer may need replacement but I'm not sure about it. Are there any surefire ways to tell if it needs replacement and if it does, (I'm thinking it can't be THAT difficult) are there any "gotchas" I should know about? I've never done one before. BTW- '03 TJ Sport. Thanks in advance. John |
Re: Two (simple?) Questions...
Two simple Answers:
1. Try a boating or sporting goods stores for a better compass. 2. Buy new tires. (47k on GY GSAs ????) My recommendation is just wait and get the GPS. You could buy an inexpensive handheld Suunto for around $10 and step away from the vehicle if you get lost ....sorry - disoriented momentarily. Then you would have a hiking compass in case you are that type. http://www.rei.com/online/store/Sear...cat=REI_SEARCH BTW, have you seen this GPS?
