Transmission Probs..
I posted this the other day but our 'puter messed up the newsgroups and
wasn't able to see the rsponses or my post for that matter... I had a severe squealing in my cardan joint/front driveshaft, finally the dealer has replaced the driveshaft and joint....on my very first outing with her, the manual stick shift kept poping out of gear when I was in 4 low... I didn't really notice it until I had been crawling over some serious rock terrain for already close to an hour or so... now it's not constantly poping out but every now and then... my previous question was.... do you think that they could have done something while installing the drive shaft??? or possibly did I hit something or drag across something to do the damage??? Then last night I mentioned it to a friend and he said "sound like you've screwed your Syncros". It is a 2003 TJ Sport Stocker w/ Engine/oilpan skid, Transfercase skid, fr and rear diff skids and Warn rocksliders... so I feel like I'm pretty protected under there... Whatcha think ppl??? TIA, Jeff |
Re: Transmission Probs..
oh yes...fogot to mention that I am also having a hard time getting it into
third gear on the street and possibly getting worse...then last night I found if you don't fully push the stick forwrd that it doesn't go into first very easily either.... like I said...my buddy thinks syncros....any other ideas?? Re: Transmission Probs..
Broken engine or tranny mount is the most likely. Second likely is you
have shifted the body tub on it's mounts. Popping out of gear has no bearing on syncros. to go.....wrong...problem still persists... and actually getting harder to get into 3'rd sometimes....especially when it's cold... I've checked all mounts, engine and tranny....changed the transmission fluid.....I did however notice a bent control arm...it couldn't, could it????? I've made another appt. in two weeks for after I change control arm... whatcha's think?? TIA...
