TJ in Sand -- min. tire size?
 

I see a number of posts from those in Southern California -- can anyone
confirm whether or not a 31x10.5 AT on a TJ will get me through when
aired down in the sand? I don't need to climb the lee side of a hill
or be a desert hero in a Glamis hole, I'm just trying to gauge the lift
& tires I need to get around in the soft stuff....I'm doing the Jeep
thing to go in, have fun, and still get home, but if I don't need 12.5
width tires to do the job, I'd appreciate the flexibility of a smaller
tire to handle snow.

Full size 2wd pickups do well in sand with those tires aired way down
so a jeep should do even better. This is from experience in fine
powder sand between the Pinacate desert and the Gulf of California
coast and in dry wash sand in southern Arizona.

Get a gauge with a needle and dial, for accuracy and consistency
read. I run five pounds sand, ten rock. Of course, the view is much
better from the top of Oldsmobile, or Competition:

Get a gauge with a needle and dial, for accuracy and consistency
read. I run five pounds sand, ten rock. Of course, the view is much
better from the top of Oldsmobile, or Competition:
