TJ jeep hinge bushing
The bushing inside the female part of the door hing on my 2002 TJ is
gone. When I put my hard doors on, the other doors ripped part of it out. So I removed it all. But the dealer does not sell the bushing, it sells only the comple hinge. Is there a trick or something I can use to put in the hinge so it is not loose any more |

Somtimes the "HELP" section of PepBoys or Canadian tire..etc has these things. Another possiblity is a small piece of PVC pipe or brass/copper/aluminum tube cut to fit. You might have to notch it out a bit. Just something to think of. -- DougW |

I did the same repair on one of the kid's Nisson but that one used a pin (which the dealer wanted nearly $40 for) that exactly fit inside a 1/4 inch copper tube which in turn pressed nicely into the wallowed out hole. Held for 4 years, maybe still going. If you oil the things every so often even a steel bushing will work. Ask a local machinist what he would charge to trun a stock one down for you. -- Will Honea |
