Time for new tires

Hi all,

Jeep needs a couple of new tires, so I'm thinking of getting four brand new
bigger ones.. it's got 215s on there right now.. I'm still a bit of a newbie
though.. it's a stock 93 YJ, no lift.. what would be the biggest size tires I
can put on the thing?

Thanks everyone..

Re: Time for new tires

You can fit 31x10.50s without serious rubbing. The rubbing will depend upon
what type, and how much, offroading you do. If the rubbing is too much for
you, then you can install a 1" body lift in an afternoon.

Re: Time for new tires

Jeff, if that's a 93 YJ, he would probably be better off with 30", rather
than "31. While I have seen 31s on YJs, they are usually pretty crowded.

Re: Time for new tires

I agree, but they can work. My dad and my brother both run 31s on their YJs.
My brother added 1" of body lift to get the clearance he wants, and my dad
gets some mild rubbing in his brand of offroading. My dad is approaching 80,
so he is not all that rough in his travels. He does enjoy getting out and
about though.
