Hey Bill.
If you haven't yet drilled out the holes in the spring plates, I'd
recommend getting a smaller nut instead. Get a good strong one. You
might be better off going to a 4WD/auto parts/auto repair type place
and getting a nut made for that purpose rather than getting one off
the shelf at Lowe's. BE CAREFUL changing it out. You'll need a vice or
at least a couple of good strong C-clamps to hold the spring pack
together while you change out the nut. If that thing flies apart,
it'll mangle you up. On the other hand, if you've already drilled out
the hole slightly, I'm sure it'll be OK.
My story gets long winded here, because I added a leaf (V-8, winch)
and also replaced my spring plates to have mounting points for both
the sway bar links and shocks. (Lower shocks mounts were welded to the
axle tube) I bought replacement Superlift spring bolts, which were
longer, to fit the extra leaf. They had the correct size nut.
Changing out the springs isn't exactly a quick easy job, eh?

I have a Skyjacker kit, same thing. I just drilled the plates out a
little larger. These lift companies are a little off here, huh?

I put raised both sides of the same axle while working on the springs. Mine
fell together easily. I was able to drop the axle into place, and move it
forward and aft by pushing it around with my feet.
