spray on bedlining inside a jeep
has anyone ever heard of putting a spray on bedliner in the interior of a
jeep wrangler? What would be the advantages/disadvantages of this? |
Re: spray on bedlining inside a jeep
Yes, it's pretty common. RhinoLiner, Line-X, TurboLiner, Herculiner, etc..
It makes clean-up with a hose much easier, plus it adds thermal and sound insulation. I plan to do it to my TJ. It's not cheap though, it's usually $400 and up for the spray-on liners done by dealers but they are very thick and worth the additional cost in my opinion. Herculiner is done by the owner and is usually rolled on, though some report success using an undercoating spray gun to apply it. The disadvantage to Herculiner is that it's much thinner, much like paint with ground up rubber particles in it. But it's cheap, $90 or so to buy a gallon which is enough to do the interior of a Jeep with a couple coats. I'll be doing mine this spring. Advantages, rust protection (especially if you're removing carpet) sound deadening (minimal I suspect, but maybe as good as carpet) it looks good, and is very utilitarian. Disadvantages, it fades over time from semi gloss to flat. It'll be hell if you ever want to remove it. -- Simon "I may be wrong, but I'm not uncertain." -- Robert A. Heinlein |

Re: spray on bedlining inside a jeep
I had mine Rhino'd last year. Covers the floors, up the sides to the lip of
the tub. I mainly did it so I could pull the carpets out (throw them away), protect the tub & make clean up much easier. I thought about the Herculiner, but as someone else said, it's a thinner application. Local Rhino dealer charged me $400 US to complete it. I had to pull out everything except the driver's seat & seat belt.
