Rocky-Road outfitters update
On 12/6 I placed and order for two IPF headlamp lenses, two IPF h4 bulbs,
and two XJ lift shackles. On 12/11, I recieved an e-mail from UPS ship notoification with tracking information. The package arrived on 12/12. Untill today, 12/15, I hadn't had a chance to go pick up the package from my apartment complex. The package includes (2) XJ lift shackles. The packing list says the headlamps and bulbs are on backorder. There was no mention of a backorder on the web site. Now, before the flaming starts, I'm not complaining about the backorder. That's fine. They only charged the payment for the shackles and have not charged for the headlamps at this time. I order online and know that processing and shipping takes time, so I order with enough time to accomodate. What am I complaning about? It's been six full business days since I placed my order on 12/6, and no one has bothered to call or e-mail and tell me that my other items are on backorder. Am I wrong to expect to be notified when items I have purchased are on backorder, and when the anticipated ship date is? All that being said, the shackles appear to be very high quality and were very carefully and well packed. Bushings and grease nipples are pre-installed. Carl |

One of the items I decided I didn't want and called them as I wanted to cancel the order. I was told to just refuse the delivery, which I did. It took me THREE MONTHS to get a refund. I had no luck with emails, not even the grouchy kind. It seems their emailing ahs been outsourced. I filed a dispute with my credit card company and within a week I had a refund ($235.00). I think it was a coincidence because when I called their 800 number the young lady told me aht I should have phoned sooner because that was all they needed to process my refund. Sooooooo where I'm going with this, call them. Don't rely on them to nitialize the communication. You have only one order to worry about, they have hundreds. Hopefully they can give you an ETA. Re: Rocky-Road outfitters update - Update #2
I called RRO about 20 minutes after the OP. They said they had a shipment
coming in but didn't know if my lights were on that shipment. They promised to give me a call in a few hours. Nearly 24 hours later, nothing. On a side note, my initial impressions about the shackles is now less than stellar. The grease nipples, instead of being threaded in, are a press fit. The nipples have a threaded end. They both fell out before ever making it onto the Jeep. No, they are custom made by RRO.

Re: Rocky-Road outfitters update - Update #2
Kate,
I'm going to call and complain next week. I would expect cheesy 'pressed in' grease nipples from "Steel Horse" brand shackles, but I had expected RRO to be as they had claimed, 'High Quality'. Would it be that hard to tap the hole and put a threaded fitting in there? I will likely not buy from or reccomend RRO to anyone. Low quality product, slow processing time, poor quality. The jury is still out on customer service. When I buy new ball joints and tie rod ends and u-joints, they just come
with an empty hole and either the zerk fittings and/or small blocking bolts. These fittings are 'self threading' tapered fittings. They are supposed to be screwed in, not pressed in. 'I' have never had a failure of one in over 30 years of changing them. It's now too late to thread the holes or to try and self tap them with new fittings. This means the fittings already have reamed the hole out to their size. I guess if you could find a larger diameter zirk, you could drill a larger hole. You could also 'maybe' block the original hole and drill one right beside it to screw the fittings into if there was room. But these are new and basically garbage as they sit. Re: Rocky-Road outfitters update - Update #2
Kate,
You learned two things. One about the grease zerks. The other being not to purchase anything from Rocky-Road Outfitters. I have used www.offroadtoystore.com with excellent results. Good prices and Chris is a good guy to deal with.
