Results are in - Ping is not Ping so I'm told.

I finally found someone to take my jeep to to diagnose what this ping noise
is when I drive it.

Took it to T&J Performance in Orange, Ca. Recommend by Benny at Hesco.

Anyway, he had it for nearly a day and came back telling me it didn't sound
like ping that he could hear. Said it sounded like lifter noise. Either
the lifter hitting the aluminum valve cover or some other noise.

I did install the Aluminum Valve Cover at the same time I put the kit.

Hitting the valve cover doesn't sound right to me though because there is a
great difference in sound between rev-ing the engine at idle and driving it
through the gears. I can bearly hear it if at all at idle but when I drive
it I can certianly hear it.

Would a stuck lifter have this symtom? Little or no sound at idle but clear
as a bell when driving?

Maybe I torqued it down to much. To install the Valve Cover I needed to
chang out the studded rocker arm bridges for stud-less. I'll have to take
it off and check this weekend.

Anyway, through this process I learned a lot about the kit and how it should
be when installed.

Thanks to all who helped me with this.

Bill
