Rear Grinding Sound/High-Pitch Barely Audible Whine
Hi Again All,
In addition to my 1996 V-* rear kick I mentioned in a concurrent post, I have grinding (more like groaning) noise that is speed sensitive, about 1 groan every 3 or 4 meters. Also, while driving on the highway, the groan is persisent, but at those speeds, you cannot hear the individual revolutions, just a loud hum/growl (hard to explain). Also, there is a noise that is a fine, high-pitched whine, but not very loud, at least not as loud as the hum. What is this? -Chaud Lapin- |

Seems to be more obvious on vehicles with Trac-Loc because the nature of the groan changes depending on whether the vehicle is turning left or right. Made quite a difference on mine - even when the curve was fairly slight. The TSB for the 1997 Grand is: 03-03-98 JUL 98 Rear Axle - Carrier Bearing Growl |

I'm guessing your '96 V8 is sitting in a Grand Cherokee with a bent
aluminum housing, from the use of a floor jack. Hey Bill et al,
I guess I failed to mentioned that the whining sound is coming undeniably from the rear. -Chaud Lapin- L.W.(ßill) ------ III <----------@cox.net> wrote in message news:<3FA94AA9.3728D69E@cox.net>... > I'm guessing your '96 V8 is sitting in a Grand Cherokee with a bent > aluminum housing, from the use of a floor jack. > God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O > mailto:-------------------- http://www.----------.com/ |
