From my engineering days that sounds like two vibrations, slightly out of
phase, that alternately reinforce and cancel each other. Tires can do this,
axle bearings, carrier bearings, drive shaft, almost anything in fact. You
can replace carrier bearings yourself if you have a bearing puller
(rentable), a brass drift and a dial gauge (rentable). I don't know if I
would recommend it unless you do a lot of mechanical repairs though.
