Run, do not walk, away from this CJ...it's a pile of rusted junk. Buy it
only if you're prepared to spend many $.

Dang that pic threw me for a minute...I looked at a CJ just like that a few
weeks ago...but it had a hard top! I don't know why people jack up the price of
old CJ's. The one I looked @ was sooooo rusted out and the previous owner just
painted over the rust. He really did paint over everything....even the rubber
seal under the windshield. He was probably afraid to remove the it for fear of
destroy'in the windshield. Hell there wasn't a body pannel that was rust
free....even the axle's had severe rust damage. I donno....$4500 just don't buy
much anymore lol.

Re: Value of CJ7

Yeah I pretty much came to that conclusion already. I've waited quite a
while for a Jeep project because there just aren't many around here for
sale. When there is one, this is typically what I find. I want a solid
starter project for what I want to build. I'm sure if I keep looking
something will turn up in time. Thanks for all the feedback.

Re: Value of CJ7

I'm not sure where you live but if it's a Northern rust belt state that uses
highway salt in the winter it isn't very likely there are many rust-free CJs
around.

If you're patient enough to shop out of State, Texas, Arizona and New Mexico
and Southern CA are still loaded with clean CJs. They sold well there when
new and haven't been subject to years of corrosives. Check the Collins
Brothers site for a few examples. There's also a Jeep broker in Austin, TX
whose name I can't remember, it's like "Austin Jeeps" or something, and
another one in Laguna Beach CA called "Jeeps 'R Us". The latter often has
some clean one's on their web site, but when I stopped by their lot it was
clear they had done some questionable, low buck restorations on most of
them.
