He's right, it doesn't increase the the load capacity of the winch, it
only changes the winching angle. In the example, there wasn't a tree right in front of the stuck truck. They did incorrectly say that it doubled the power in that example. They could have just attached the cable to the other truck, but it could have drug the truck and by using the 3pt configuration, the force was diverted to the tree so the truck with the snatch stayed put.
