Odd that you are looking at color vs. best protection. Sun Performance and
4xDoctor make great ones for the CJ, and they are both black.

I do 99% road driving... don't need protection just need to hide rust :-)

I've been there myself before. I actually liked the diamond plate look
myself. When I originally put them on my Jeep I did it for the looks as
well as the protection from brush scratches. I have since pulled them off
and put 4xdoctor guards on. I think we all temper our toys with a
combination of looks and functionality. No harm in that.
