Re: Question from a VERY rookie new Jeep owner

Before you spend more money on it, I would advise you to sign up for a
Jeep Jamboree or other off road event. My biggest regret is buying
the same "upgrade" twice because I didn't know any better the first
time around. After you go on one of these you learn what works and
what doesn't. For example, you might want nerf bars now because
you've seen them on a Jeep or two on the highway (at least I did),
but at a Jamboree you find out that they lower ground clearance and
probably don't offer as much protection as the factor plate already on
your rig. I don't know if every one here would agree, but I would
keep your Jeep out of the mud unless you have to drive through mud to
get to a good climb, desent, or boulder field. In my opinion, its
not enough fun to justify the cleanup and wear. Mudding is best done
with 44" tires in a 4x4 truck with alot more HP then your Jeep has.

Oh yeah... Do not buy cheesy performance parts (KN/Split Fire), don't
buy steel horse/Genuine Steel, look for made in USA on any part your
paying alot of money for, and don't pay for shipping at the 4wheel
parts store when you have to pay sales tax too.... thats --------, its
a store or a catalog. ok done with the rant now.....
