I would leaning more towards bad spark plugs, maybe the coil or
brain box firing them. That's only thing that just shuts the engine off
and back on instantly to bang your drive train. Could be that infamous
ground strap, Mike keeps harping about. ;-)

I had my start solenoid fail on my years ago. Internal post or something
was loose. I'd tap a bump on the road or be making a right turn and the
engine would drop dead. Come to a stop. Turn the key. Everything fine
until the next time. Changed part, never happened again. Sorry, I haven't
looked to see what year, etc. you have, but mine is '75 CJ5 258.

I had my start solenoid fail on my years ago. Internal post or something
was loose. I'd tap a bump on the road or be making a right turn and the
engine would drop dead. Come to a stop. Turn the key. Everything fine
until the next time. Changed part, never happened again. Sorry, I haven't
looked to see what year, etc. you have, but mine is '75 CJ5 258.

That would be hard to trace. This reminds me I've had many
alternators come apart and would intermittently short and kill the
ignition.

alternators come apart and would intermittently short and kill the

I had thought of that (ground strap) as well. I will have to look closely at
