Yea. I was referring to the air filter which does allow for extra
power and a couple extra mpg. I guess I need to decide if some dirt is
worth those benefits on a new vehicle.

I had toyed with simply replacing the stock filter, but when I decided I
was going to keep my TJ for a while and then found that Chrysler/Jeep
had a factory equivalent of the complete K&N intake (Chrysler P5153368)
I broke open the piggy bank and bought it. I clean the filter element
every second oil change using the Jeep cleaning kit (P5153376). And yes
I inspect for dirt/crud. If you plan to keep your Jeep for a long period
the investment ($298.00 intake kit and $16.50 cleaning kit) is worth it,
at least to me with gas at $3+/gal. It's your call and your $$. I
wouldn't waste the $40 on just the replacement filter either. On that I
agree, keep the stock one. Just my 2 cents.
