Re: 00 Wrangler TJ Overheating Normal?? - Yes, According to Dealer

Call me crazy but I would change out the thermostat. That's pretty cheap and
easy and a good chance it's not opening up to let the water flow. Even the
stock motor can idle with the A/C on for a 5-7 minute stop light without
overheating. I have a 97 TJ 2.5L and live in Arizona and let me tell you
that A/C rarely turns off. It never gets over 210 (middle) except on trips
up steep hills with the A/C on and even the it might jump only 10 deg. I
wouldn't go dropping too much dough on extras if you don't have the cash.
These motors are engineered pretty descent. It's 117 degrees out everyday
this time of year and my baby keeps me cool no probs.

Hi Dave,
So glad to hear that. Maybe I should change the thermostat out?
Where is the best place to buy one? Autozone, or a jeep magazine?
Also, even when my A/C is off, my temperature even goes above 210.
Not nearly as high, but is still goes a little bit over the middle.
Even when it is totally off. That is something else that bothers me.
I will look into the thermostat and check it out.

Thanks,
Glad to hear your jeep isn't doing that.
