Re: Quick question about YJ 4 banger...
I use Permatex Blue Silicone Gasket Maker, being very careful to
completely wipe clean and dry with Denatured Alcohol, running about quarter inch bead around the cover, and practicing many time to drop the cover perfectly down on the head. Any squishing around and you've wasted your time. God Bless America, ßill O|||||||O mailto:-------------------- http://www.----------.com/ Jeepers wrote: > > The valve cover is leaking on wife's YJ. Re: Quick question about YJ 4 banger...
Gasket. Should only set you back about $10.
Might want to inspect the cover once it's off to make sure it isn't cracked anywhere. Replacement covers are relatively cheap unless you opt for the polished chrome or Aluminum look. Jeepers wrote: >The valve cover is leaking on wife's YJ. Gasket or sealant? > > |

OK, put the gasket on, then when you accidentally torque the bolts a
little too tight and spit and squeeze out gasket from under the bolts, then you have the silicone. For a more permanent solution I'd go with the gasket (ie, for the valve
cover). For a less permanent solution such as regularily replacing diff fluids, etc... I'd go with a blue silicone gasket maker. Where I'm located a gasket maker is about $3/tube where a gasket is considerably more moola and almost never in stock. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Redge Egder '92, i6 4.0/5spd, 4" of Sky, D30/35's (4.56's) with 33's bolted on the ends. http://members.attcanada.ca/~kaessie/jeepin/ Inquiro Et Invenio...
