I prefer the electronic contact cleaner and I use dielectric grease on
the plug's rubber seal. I have crossed 42" of standing water successfully so I figure it works well. I also find WD40 attracts a bit of dirt, but if the plug skirt seals the insides, I don't mind too much. I figure the next time it gets shot with the real cleaner.
