Re: pigtail for tow trailer??
Hello Bill,
I've been looking for an adaptor just like the ones listed on the web page. Have you ever seen ones for a CJ? They don't have any of the early models listed. Are you asking if you should bother building a trailer light harness, or
just forget about it and drag a trailer without lights? If that is what you are asking, then do what you want. If you are going to ask how to wire the trailer harness, then I would be happy to tell you how. Re: pigtail for tow trailer??
You do not need an adaptor for the TJ, YJ, or CJ. These models use the same
bulb for brake lights and for turn signals, just like the trailer lights. You only need the adaptor when the tow vehicle uses a dedicated turn signal, and the trailer shares the turn signals with the brake lamps. Re: pigtail for tow trailer??
Yeah, there is a buncha wiring there heading up into the innards of the vehicle. And a small junction box with a round connector right near the hitch hole. However, the reason I asked the question is that the website you posted, http://www.accessconnect.com/trailerwiring.htm is offering a hitch adapter for the ZJ with tow package....which implies something or other I was hoping you'd know. Perhaps the plug itself is a Jeep specific and just needs a patch cord, dunno. I do have a wiring diagram of it, but thats about all... Re: pigtail for tow trailer??
Hi Jim,
They probably don't make an adapter because the CJ's harness doesn't come apart near the tail lights, you know like to be water proof. So you'll have to splice it in using any of the after market pig tails sold at auto parts stores.
