I do buy some Snap-On specialty tools that they hold the patents
on. They cost twice as much as Craftsman. And unusually not guaranteed,
and tools that are like a ratchet are rebuild rather than exchanged as
Craftsman.

They've always just exchanged them for me, some were my Dad's
rusty, because they didn't chrome them in the twenties. Convenient, the

I don't want my good ratchets exchanged. I want them repaired. The old
ones are better made, better looking, and I'm attached to them. Some
even have collector value, I save the old pieces. I have many old
Craftsman tools and the old ones are as well made as the Snap-Ons at
the time, that is no longer the case. I take the tool in and ask for
the kit and swap them out myself. You have to dismantle the new ones
anyway because the factory grease gets raunchy . I douche them out with
mineral spirits or whatever is in use at the parts cleaner, then clean
with tuner cleaner, then after careful drying put on Phillips 66
helicopter grease. It's a blue-green and costs $400 for a five gallon
pail. I'm very fussy I suppose but everyone needs a hobby.
