Olympic bumper experiences??
If all goes well with the deal I should have a winch for our TJ in a
couple of weeks. At the same time I want to replace the front bumper with one where the winch fits inside rather than on top of the bumper. So I found these: http://www.4x4products.com/oa013.html Anyone have any experience with these specific bumpers? How about Olympic products/service in general? Thanks in advance Mike 98 TJ SE |
Re: Olympic bumper experiences??
I've had f/r Olympic bumpers with 2" receiver tubes (centered, not welded on
underneath) on my TJ for probably six years now and I still like 'em. You can see pics of them on my webpages. I'm not so sure I like the new model in the pic, it's huge... too huge, much like ARB's. I have a rear Olympic rock bumper on mine and really like it. Don't know
anyone with this specific model though. Re: Olympic bumper experiences??
I've got the shorter olympic bumpers w/2" receiver hitch (powder
coated models) on front and back of my 99 TJ. I really like them. Had them about 3 years. The rear was the first one I put on and at that time, I had a problem with the drilling instructions accuracy but I understand they fixed that. I had no problems at all with the front bumper. |

I want to go to a beefier bumper with a swing-out rack, but that isn't a fault of the olympic bumper. You should also look into the "rockproof" series of bumper from M.O.R.E. which holds the winch in much the same way as the olympic bumper. It doesn't have the receiver underneath the bumper, but it does include two shackle points as standard. One possible drawback is the fact that it ships unpainted but that was actually a plus since I planned to weld my own winch gaurd bar on. It turned out pretty good. http://www.mountainoffroad.com/ ---------------------------------------------------- Del Rawlins- del@_kills_spammers_rawlinsbrothers.org Remove _kills_spammers_ to reply via email. I too have had the front and rear Olympic rock bumpers with 2" hitch
receiver for several years. Great product, but go with the gloss paint. The textured black coat does not hold up as well, especially in Minnesota winters! Regards, Guri Sandhu 98TJ ..
