Oil Leak

I have a 93 Wrangler 4 cyl. Oil is forcing or I should say spewing out of the top of the dipstick on a cold start up. Does not seem as bad after the car has been driven or on repeat start ups...just maily in the morning on a cold start. I know my model jeep does not have a PCV Valve...Does anyone have suggestions as to the cause?

Oil pressure on cold start sometimes will peg around 80 and then drops back down after about 45 seconds and I assume the pressure is being released at the dipstick.

Re: Oil Leak

No, the oil pressure is not being relieved at the dipstick. Your jeep does
have a Positive Crankcase Ventilation system(PCV), it's the law. It may not
be a PCV valve as you're used to seeing, but somewhere crankcase vapor is
being drawn out and fresh filtered air allowed to replace it. The problem
is your PCV system is freezing up. Check the suction side and the vent side
that runs back to the air cleaner.
This is usually caused by insufficient oil change interval for the type of
driving that you're doing. If you drive short distances in cold weather the
engine doesn't get hot enough long enough to evaporate the moisture and
condensation that forms in the crankcase. This moisture freese up on the
PCV system and with no crankcase venting the pressure that builds in the
crankcase (yes there is trace amounts of compression blowby even in brand
new engines) has nowhere to go and rises until it pushes the dipstick out
and spews oil when it does. Go run your jeep for a couple of hours (under
load, not idling in the driveway), then while it's still hot drop the oil
and filter. Check all of the connecting vent hosing and change the PCV
valve. Refill with oil and you should be good to go.
