Offset Balljoints
Offset balljoints were mentioned in a different thread, I have been
wondering for awhile why nobody seems to be making these things. Now I see that AEV Conversions sells them, but they are $150!! Who manufactures these things, and where can I pick them up for a realistic price? I am looking to install them in a YJ, but they would work in any solid axle application. |
Re: Offset Balljoints
I'm the one that mentioned them. If you spend enough time at the parts counter I think a place like
Napa or Schucks will be able to get them. Finding the appropriate part number for them might be difficult. I *think* it's a Napa part number, NCP 264-2975. Call them and check though. I think they are ~1/2 the price of the AEV ones. You might also ask AEV the part number and for what vehicle they are specifically made. Re: Offset Balljoints
I was thinking about these a few months ago when I had to put my D44s under
my Jeep(didn't want to grind and rotate knuckles). I talked to a guy around here that's really in to that sort of thing and he mentioned offset sleeves. The sleeve screws in to the top balljoint. If you get one that's offset, you can change the degree on your caster by 1-2 degrees. He said unfortunately you can't get the correct torque setting on the balljoints with this setup. Good luck hunting. I sure hope someone comes out with a cost effective set of balljoints that can adjust about 4+ degrees (change bottom 2 degrees, change top 2 degrees, bingo). sure seems easy :).
