OEM original casting number on EGR valve - 86XJ Cherokee

Anyone know the **OEM part number** on the EGR valve on an 86 Cherokee
with a 2.8L / auto / non-Kalifornya .... need to go back to square
one and I need the orfice plate diameter.
So if you have an old 86 2.8L laying around I'd appreciate the casting
number off the EGRT valve body.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation valves, the parts stores sell out
here come with an assortment of orifices, I'd choose the smallest, I
have installed the largest to really lean it out for inspection, but
it's prone to backfiring one deceleration, scaring the heck our of
drivers you pass. Kalifornia no longer tests to see if it's diaphragm
works, just that it's there visual: http://www.----------.com/smog.jpg
Because you're probably not going to find a new one.

Re: OEM original casting number on EGR valve - 86XJ Cherokee

What Im attempting to do is re-orfice one with the largest orfice
(without backfire) that I can put in without problems. The problem is
that GM over the years kept issuing service bulletins which sucessively
reduced the orfice size. I just wanted to know where to start without
doing a lot of blind orfice swapping.

Re: OEM original casting number on EGR valve - 86XJ Cherokee

I would block it off entirely. Just have it there for the SMOG
inspection visual. You know running exhaust particles back through your
engine isn't the best thing you may do for it.
