Nothing like pulling a tranny at -25C....

A friend has dropped by with a toasted clutch and needs his Jeep for
Monday so we are out in the driveway at -25C or so pulling it.

Well, he is pulling, I am passing tools and making hot soup....

Man I am some glad it's his fingers and not mine on those tools. The
frost is high enough that fingers will stick to the metal.

Can't even have a beer outside, it freezes fast and goes flat....

Inside having a beer break right now...

hot beer? eww.

You can cut the wind and make things a bit more bearable by putting
a tarp over the jeep.

Too bad you don't have a local auto hobby shop with inside lifts.
They used to have one around here but insurance costs caused it to
shut down.

Re: Nothing like pulling a tranny at -25C....

I have a 12'x 12' tent that covers a CJ nice if we need it. No wind
today at least.

I made a big pot of split pea soup with ham to keep us warm and we had
the right clothes so didn't freeze our butts off.

We are supposed to get a heat wave tomorrow, they are talking -2C or so
and snow.

He needs a nose cone for the tranny. His has a notch in it which held
the throw out bearing hanging on the pressure plate burning all the
fingers off the plate, same as mine did last year.

He, like me didn't know what that notch meant when we put the tranny's
in last time, I learned, now he has too.

Maybe we can find parts tomorrow, if not it is a Monday fix thing....
