No spark (follow-up for Mike ...and anyone else who can help!)

Mike,
Awhile back, you said to do an ignition coil test and look for 9 volts and 6
volts, as well as going from the ignition module orange/purple to the
distributor orange/purple. Here's what I've done and some questions:

1. First off, is this a bypass to go around the computer that's under my
dash? I've been looking at the Hayne's diagram and it appears to be what
it's doing. Either way, at the ignition module connector end, I have the
following wires:
Black/Green goes to Black
Green goes to Green
Orange goes to Orange
Purple - goes no where ...the connector on the other end only has 3 wires
running out of it.

and on the distributor end:
Black
Black/Purple
Black/Orange

I've tried just using automotive 14GA wire with some female connectors and
sticking them on the plug connector ends. I did the following combo's:

IM blk/grn to DIST blk
IM org to DIST blk/org
IM pur to DIST blk/pur
and
IM blk/grn to DIST blk
IM org to DIST blk/org
IM grn to DIST blk/pur (b/c the purple from the IM doesn't seem to have a
wire on the other end running towards the distributor).

As for the ignition coil, I've now replaced it with 2 new ones and still got
the same 6V (red) and <1 (blk) when the dist & IM connectors were connected
normally. When I did the bypass the voltages for both sides of the coil were
11.5ish with the key on run.

I'm officially and absolutely lost. No matter what I've done there is no
spark anywhere. Wee!
