New Hard Top Seal?
I'm getting exessive wind noise between the top of the windshield and
the hard top of my '01 TJ and figure from some previous posts that my hard top is too far forward. To be sure, I went to the dealership to compare and found the 2004's have a different seal that sticks out farther... Anyone know if the newer seal would fit directly? (I'd rather only have to adjust once to avoid frost bite!) Thanks. |
Re: New Hard Top Seal?
Sometimes a hardtop will be installed incorrectly by bolting it down at the
rear it was clamped to the windshield frame, creating a slight gap between the top and windshield frame. Try loosening the bolts in the rear, lifting the top a bit to loosen the rear seal so the top can slide forward a bit if needed, then re-clamping it to the windshield again. Then re-tighten the rear bolts. Re: New Hard Top Seal?
I have a 00 TJ and I used a piece of rubber in the clamp to make a
shim . That pulled the top down tighter and reduced the wind noise. Re: New Hard Top Seal?
I have a black hardtop. To eliminate the wind noise from the front top seal I
run a piece of black electrical tape over the gap. Works great. I replace it every so often so that it doesn't become permanent or leave residue on the top or paint. It blends right in visually. |
