?? Need to purchase Engine and Tranny Mounts ??
I need to buy engine mounts and a tranny mount for my '75 CJ5 258.
JcWhitney has an all in one kit that includes: 2 engine mounts, one tranny mount, two tranny bushings and bolt pin. All Rubber mounts for $30. Has anyone purchased this kit from Whitney's?? If so, how did it hold up? I want Rubber mounts, not urethane. Napa has the motor mounts for $34/pair. Mile Hi Jeep Rebuilders has the tranny mount for $25. A touch more money. Is it worth the extra $$. I understand the statement "You get what you pay for", but who really manufactures these parts? Are there certain manufacture names to avoid? Please send opinions. Hi Paul,
I would chance it, if I had the time to wait. I think that's how JC Whitney got started sell jeep surplus parts. Napa would be my last choice, there only so manufacturer out there so may get the same brand from Kragen, Chiefs, Auto Zone, Pep Boys for half that their price. Re: ?? Need to purchase Engine and Tranny Mounts ??
My stock ones finally wore/rotted out so I put new ones in when I did my
frame up 'glass body rebuild. I bought aftermarket mounts. They have no maker stamp on them, they just are. I have torn 3 sets apart in 2 years! My local Jeep shop just laughed and said, well.... Go OEM from Chrysler, they have lasted this long before your build in 2000.... It's worth it! Re: ?? Need to purchase Engine and Tranny Mounts ??
I called two local Jeep dealerships here. Both are just about an hours
drive (Silverthorne and Glenwood). My Jeep sucks going up Vail Pass. The only problem I have is that they don't carry or supply anything for a Jeep built earilier than 1983. Maybe it's because I live in the Colorado High country. Anyways, their the ones that referred me to the Jc whitney and Mile Hi Jeep Rebuilders for my mounting parts. I'll probably go with the Whitneys Kit. $30 bucks and something new I haven't changed out yet. If it lasts cool. If it doesn't I'll deal with. -- Thanks Always !!! Paul '75 CJ5 258 Vail, CO.
