need help, symptoms of a 5 spd transmission ... need synchronizers?
I have a 92 wrangler. It shifts dowm fom 1 to 5 fine, but downshifting
it does not like to engage especially from 4 to 3 3 to 2. Is this most likely synchronizers that need to be replaced? ---------------------------------------------------------------- If so, is it just as well to get just the the syncs replaced in the old transmission, or get a full rebuilt transmission? ---------------------------------------------------------------- What can I figure as ballpark costs to have it fixed or replaced? thankz |

My T-5 on my '82 Scrambler starting doing that when I was using GLI-4 gear oil, but stopped when I replaced it with Dexron ATF (recommended by the factory service manual). If you haven't changed you fluid in a while, try that too. -- Michael White "To protect people from the effects of folly is to fill the world with fools." -Herbert Spencer, 1891 |
