Re: Need to calibrate sending unit in fuel tank!
Thanks,
I probably won't mess with. It's hard to describe, but it seems that after fill up after fill up that the " Reserve" volume is increasing. When it was first installed there was just over 2 gallons approx. at empty. Now theres between 3 1/2 to 4 gallons left. Trust me I love having the extra fuel as a reserve, but if this is increasing I would like to know why? Re: Need to calibrate sending unit in fuel tank!
How does it read when full? Does it fall off after just a dozen or so
miles? IMHO, empty and 2 gallons out of 15 left would be OK, that's like 13%, but 4 out of 15 is over 25%. I would want my gauge to say almost 1/4 at 4 out of 15. If you want to adjust it, you have to remove the sender and bend the arm that holds the float down a bit, so it's closer to the bottom of the tank at rest (empty). With nearly 4 gallons at empty, it gives you a false sense of hope and you will push it.... and push it... I don't want insurrance (I pay too much for that already), I want to know exactly how much is left! -- JimG 80' CJ-7 258 CID 35" BFG MT on 15x10 Centerlines D44 Rear, Dana 30 Front. Hmm. 4 gals. on 15 would be too much on E. Two would be perfect. Just
out of curiousity, why did you go with a 15 instead of a 20 gal. replacement? Paul Brogren wrote: > Thanks, > > I probably won't mess with.
