Need to buy wheels???

Good Morning All,

I am in the process of buying a new set of wheels for my '75 CJ5. I think
I'm gonna get the Mickey Thompson Classic II. I have 31" 10.50's. I don't
know whether to get the 8" wheel or the 10"? I currently have 8" wheels. I
like to go off-road, but the Jeep is a daily driver. If anyone has a set of
these do you like them? Or would you all recommend something different?
Please send opinions.

Re: Need to buy wheels???

Just to sum up, would you say that 10" rims are best with the 31x10.5"
tires so long as the tires have a "sidebiter"-type tread to give sidewall
protection? I'm probably a little ignorant on this one but I just envision
the sidewall being more exposed with the 10". I'm not disagreeing with you
at all. I'm just looking at my 33x12.5" on my narrower rims and wondering
what it'd look like.

Your question reminds me I originally used what I had, in '68 760 X
15 on ten inch welded reverse rims, so a lot of traction came from the
side walls, pictured hooked to the trailer:

Re: Need to buy wheels???

I just had a set mounted on my Jeep last week. So far so good. I got
the 8" wheels. Would the 10" wheels add unecessary additional weight
considering the main use of the vehicle is a daily driver? One of the
reasons I bought the MT's over cheaper AR-767's was because they were
lighter. Take a look, let me know if you have trouble with the link.:

Re: Need to buy wheels???

I just had a set mounted on my Jeep last week. So far so good. I got
the 8" wheels. Would the 10" wheels add unecessary additional weight
considering the main use of the vehicle is a daily driver? One of the
reasons I bought the MT's over cheaper AR-767's was because they were
lighter. Take a look, let me know if you have trouble with the link.:
