Name that part!

I have a 2002 TJ jeep 6 cyl 4.0. On the clutch pedal there is a part
that attactes to the firewall. This is a black plastic, that has 2
wires attached to it. This part has become detatched and can slide up
and down the link.

What is this part called. My Jeep is still covered but I like to tell
them what needs to be done otherwise ...

Thanks

Re: Name that part!

Clutch interlock switch ? Serves two functions - prevents the Jeep from
starting unless the clutch is depressed, and switches off cruise control if
you are daft enough to change gear without disengaging first.

Re: Name that part!

Place the car in Neutral and see if it will start without depressing the
clutch pedal.

Drive the car and set the Cruise Control, then see if the cruise disengages
when the clutch pedal is depressed.

I'm not sure what you have found, but I think it is the Clutch Safety
Switch. These two tests should tell us something about that.
