MSD Distributor for AMC v8 - anyone used it?
I have a MSD distributor part number #8519. It is supposed to fit AMC v8s
but it will not seat in my 304. It seems to be bottoming out about 1/2" from the bottom. The gears are lining up and the shaft is going onto the oil pump pin, but it just won't seat....any suggestions? Spin the engine so the distributor shaft will find the pump slot.

Carefully measure it with your old distributor.
I have taken off the drive gear of an old distributor to use it as a oil pump driver. Maybe you can take off the drive gear off the MSD dist to see if that gear is stopping the dist from reaching the bottom. Of course another way is to remove the oil pump gears and allowing the distributor to seat, but that makes too much work IMHO. Went and got a new dist from the part store, it's the exact same size. I
removed the gear and it fits.
