Lowering the windshield
On the '76 CJ-5 I just bought, I unscrewed the two large hand-screws
on each end of the windshield so that I could fold the windshield forward, but found something was kinda hanging me up even after completely removing those two large hand screws. Is there some kind of lock mechanism that needs to be released in order to fold the windshield forward, or should it fold down just by removing those two large hand screws? Thank you. -- Travis http://jeepadventures.dyndns.org/jeep.html The meek shall inherit the earth. After I'm finished with it. :wq! |
Re: Lowering the windshield
The hinges are likely going to need a long soak in a good penetrating
oil. 99% of the older Jeeps I see have a busted hinge when the new owner wanted to drop it just so see what it is like. Changing hinges is 'no' fun.... Re: Lowering the windshield
Your hinges may have rusted tight, they not open and as strong as
the older Civilian Jeeps. Use lots of penetrating fluid. Also some pansy Jeepers like to silicone the water out.
