Key Cyl. Help

Howdy all,

I need to replace the key lock cylinder on the steering column in the '87
Wrangler I just bought. I don't know how it comes apart.

Any help?

Thanks in advance,

Spdloader

Re: Key Cyl. Help

According to Haynes, after you remove the steering wheel, turn signal
switch, hazard warning switch, and ignition key lamp assembly, turn the key
to the ON position, remove the retaining screw, which is inside the steering
column, and then withdraw the lock cylinder.

Why do you need to remove it?

I've got an 87 that I bought a replacement for because I couldn't get a key
copy that would work. I explained it to a locksmith and he said he could cut
me a new master for $19. He used my key as a template, looked in his bookd
to see where some other keys has cuts, and guessed on the 'code'. It worked
great.
