Just did OME suspension change on TJ - UPDATE
Hi All,
Finally the weather gave me enough break to do the body lift and motor mount lift. Body lift went okay (except for the front grill bumpstop extensions which required taking light bezels off - part not included in the instructions). Motor mount lift on a 4.0L with air-con is a big pain, especially the passenger side (rather driver side for the Americans). Its doable, except for my torque wrench is too big to fit in that space so I'll have improvise a little when I do re-torque after a little use. As for the shakes, well acceleration vibes are all gone. The only thing left is now a slight wobble as I start from stop at a turn. If I start from stop in a straight line, the wobble is not noticeable. Its just that when I start while making a sharp turn it wobble a little. What could this be? -- 01 TJ Renegade 4.0L Auto Dana 30/44 265/75R16 BFG Muds, JKS discos 2" OME lift, 1" BL, 1" MML |

You mean like suspension kinda jumping and jerking... mine does that. It's
common on lifted TJ's from what I have been told. With some TJ lifts you can pull one of the front tires (don't remember which one) off the ground while starting in a turn. If someone can tell us that this can be corrected, that would be great! -- JimG 80' CJ-7 258 CID, HEI 4.56 Gears, Lock-Right F&R 35" BFG MT on 15x10 Centerlines D44 Rear, D30 Front. Yeah, my kid's TJ does this after we did the "Redneck Lift" on it. We've also been told by a local shop that it's normal for a lifted TJ. Makes me glad I've got leaf springs<g>. -- Old Crow '82 Shovelhead FLTC 92" 'Pearl' '95 Jeep Wrangler YJ TOMKAT, BS#133, SENS, MAMBM, DOF#51, SPONGER#2 |
