Jeep Liberty Steering Moan
Hi All -
I had taken my 2004 Jeep Liberty Renegade off roading this weekend, and it has since developed a moaning when I make "tight" turns - 90 degree plus turns from a stop, while accelerating. No noise when the car is moving at a decent speed (15mph+) I checked the power steering fluid - it was low, so I topped it off, but the moan still occurs. Additionally, the moan does not start until the car is warm - ie, the moan does not start until I have run the car for 15, 20 minutes. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any ideas as to what it is? |
Re: Jeep Liberty Steering Moan
Try putting a dab of grease on the steering stops 99.9% of people do not do
this and is the most often forgotten maintenance. Have you checked the power steering fluid?

Re: Jeep Liberty Steering Moan
I just read a thread on another forum about this. Did you use ATF+4 fluid
when you topped it off? It seems while testing pre production kj's they had problems so they added a power steering fluid cooler to all kj's.
