Jeep engine replacement
Just wondering if anyone knows off the top of their head. Can the 1989
Wrangler 4 cylinder 2.5 be swapped out for a 6 cylinder 4.2 without major modifications? I'm hoping to use original transmission and mounting points. Thanks, Dan |

Hi Dan,
You definitely don't want the Peugeot transmission even it it fit, which it doesn't. I'd keep my eyes open for a complete donor Jeep, one like a salvaged wreck with a 4.0L with fuel injection and all the wire harness and computer and swap the engine, trans, and transfer as a whole. because there's many shaft differences between the four and six cylinder that'll be a headache.
