With a 8.5hp one cylinder, it makes you wonder why the hood needs 4 latches.

That looks similar to the King Midget. The King Midget was heavily
advertised in the 1960's in magazines like Popular Mechanics, Popular
Science and Mecaniix Illustrated. I remember the "testimonials" from folks
who decided to take their King Midget to escape from a horrible flood/storm,
because it was more reliable than their Lincoln. I had dreams about buying a
King Midget when I was about 12, because I figured that was about all I
could afford.
