Hey. How's it going? I just bought a 2006 Laredo with very low mileage. I drove a few and noticed a huge difference in handling between the 99-04 and the 05 and later models. Mine has the 4.7 and so far, just a few days, I am very happy with it. The entire front end was re-engineered for 05 and it actually handles like you would expect a modern vehicle to handle. No wandering, no tracking grooves, tight cornering. The seats seem much firmer and more supportive as well. The head rest is actually in a location where you can use it too. After driving 3 05/06 models and a couple of older ones I stopped looking at the older ones altogether even though I preferred the styling of the 99-04s An 05 should also be elligible for an extended warranty if you get one under 36k miles. -- Bob Mann --- is like air; it's not important unless you aren't getting any |

It's not, I still can't stand the pain of opening my wallet. It's a MAJOR decision, I'm putting around 1,000 miles/year or less on my 1993, it's in VERY good condition and has just under 88,000 miles now. I'm using the '93 primarily as a vehicle to haul my scooter now, trips to Costco, Walmart SuperCenter, the zoo, etc. Place too big for me to walk around. I can still walk some, just not more than maybe 1/2 a block. The main reason I have to get a later model is a desire for adjustable lumbar support which I really need. I also think moving the spare from the side as in my '93 might give me room to put a scooter inside w/o having to use the lift on the back. Also, I really LIKE the newer ones! > I just bought a 2006 Laredo with very low mileage. > I drove a few and noticed a huge difference in handling between > the 99-04 and the 05 and later models. My 5.2 is in bad need of new plugs, wires, throttle body cleaning, etc. to restore engine performance. IF I decide to keep it, I'll have to have that done and it'll cost but I'm no longer able to do the work myself. > The entire front end was re-engineered for 05 and it actually > handles like you would expect a modern vehicle to handle. Good information, I've only driven one of the newer ones and only once around the block with a salesman telling me how the vehicle was stickered at $45,000 but with my trade in I could get it for only $44,999.99 or something like that.... > After driving 3 05/06 models and a couple of older ones I stopped > looking at the older ones altogether even though I preferred the > styling of the 99-04s Agreed, the new body style is UGLY! > An 05 should also be eligible for an extended warranty if you get > one under 36k miles. Actually, any used vehicle under 100,000 miles is eligible for some extended warranty if you go to sources other than factory but I much prefer the factory one, of course. -- XS11E, Killing all posts from Google Groups The Usenet Improvement Project: http://improve-usenet.org |
