Re: I need a steering dampener

I got a new steering damper after ten years. It was still working, but the
leak made me worry. I'll bet that any after market part leaks within five
years or so. I have replaced a few mufflers, but they rusted out or I
bottomed them on a rock. I just replaced the front brakes because of a
little shuddering. I got new disks and pads to save two trips to town.
With gas the way it is maybe that was the economical choice. The seat belt
retractors got a little sluggish, so I replaced them this year. That is
from driving in the rain with the top down, I am sure. The spark plugs
don't last much more than 25,000 miles. Really, in twelve years I haven't
replaced much more than that.

Re: I need a steering dampener

That little air pocket left by the leak usually makes the shock
absorber bounce back and forth, much worse than nothing.
