Horrors!

... Well, now it's time to do some cleanup and get ready
to put the new exhaust header on. The old one just had
one tiny hairline crack right on the collector weld but
unfortuantly it runs right between the pipes so would have
to be welded from the inside.

Normal deposits, cooked fuel in the intakes and soot
in the exhaust ports. Could benefit from a seafoaming or
some high quality injector cleaner. May pay the dealer to
run the stuff that goes through the rail and cleans the
injectors also.

If you can find a good welder, Doug, they can weld around the outside
of the tube, then run the weld up between the tubes until they
separate enough to get the welding tip through and then back down the
other side.
I had one done like that on my wife's first XJ, and it lasted for the
remaining 3 years we owned the vehicle(heck, probably still going
good). I think it might even strengthen the mainfold by welding the 2
tubes together.
For my wife's YJ, I happened upon a used manifold with no crack, so I
just changed it out. I am going to take the original and have it
welded one of these days so I'll have a spare sitting on the shelf.

as a spare. Did get the Banks header to fit with just a "smidge" of
modifications.

Probably could have taken a lot more off than that without problems.
Don't think I ever saw a header install that didn't require some
modification of something.
