Pulled into my driveway tonight, set the parking brake, and POP!
My fabulous solder job went kaflooey, and started the sucker rolling back. Looks like I'm looking for an extended e-brake cable tomorrow! |

At least you got it nailed under a controlled situation.
I have been messing around with old beaters since the 60's and have seen just about every fix that can be done wrong at one time or another. I have even seen a rod tossed out the side of an old Honda or Datsun that had the hole in the block fixed with 'liquid aluminum' good enough he raced it again and it held... I have even seen a rod tossed out the side of an old Honda or Datsun that had the hole in the block fixed with 'liquid aluminum' good enough he raced it again and it held... CCI, Control Cables, Inc. in Santa Fe Springs, CA was where I Fed-Exed the cable to, with instructions to make an identical twin, only 10" longer. They sound pretty professional and chipper on the phone, and I have only read good things about 'em. I'll receive it tomorrow and install it. We'll see how it goes... |
