help w/ resetting a/c
on my 02 ltd, the heater only comes on when you turn the temp dial to
HI. doesn't matter what is temp inside or outside. if you turn dail from HI to 85, it blows cold air. this has been the case since i bought the jeep. i remember reading once the hvac was user programmable. i was wondering if anyone knows how to reset the programming. thanks shane |
Re: help w/ resetting a/c
do you mean HI fan speed? or HI on the temperature setting?!
If it's HI on the fan speed then I think someone mentioned a similar issue with the relay or was it a resistor pack... <shanekennedy00@netscape.net> wrote in message news:1104774539.230262.178670@z14g2000cwz.googlegr oups.com... > on my 02 ltd, the heater only comes on when you turn the temp dial to > HI. doesn't matter what is temp inside or outside. if you turn dail > from HI to 85, it blows cold air. this has been the case since i bought > the jeep. i remember reading once the hvac was user programmable. i was > wondering if anyone knows how to reset the programming. > > thanks > shane > |

Dead relay = no high fan speed on the automatic system (doesn't exist on manual systems) Dead resistor pack = only high fan speed on automatic systems nothing or just high speed on manual systems Temp dial adjusts the blend door (stepper motor) for automatic systems. > shanekennedy00 wrote ... >> on my 02 ltd, the heater only comes on when you turn the temp dial to >> HI. doesn't matter what is temp inside or outside. if you turn dail >> from HI to 85, it blows cold air. this has been the case since i bought >> the jeep. i remember reading once the hvac was user programmable. i was >> wondering if anyone knows how to reset the programming. I'd be taking it back if there is any warranty left. The system is not user programmable unless you have a DRBIII scantool. There are diagnostics built in but this is for the 93-95 ZJ. May still work. YMMV Turn the key to (on) - Depress both A/C and RECIRC buttons (and hold them down) - Turn the temp knob one click clockwise All segments should light up. - Release the A/C and RECIRC buttons You are now at the "select test" level and the display should show 00 - Push either A/C or Recirc (just one) and release You should see the little stickman and numbers cycling. (record the numbers) - Turn off the key to exit. Then post back here. There are too many tests to type them all up. -- -- DougW -- 93 ZJ 4.0 http://members.cox.net/wilsond HESCO Supercharger - 300W IASCA Stereo - Edelbrock IAS Shocks Gibson Exhaust - rear DCpower - custom gauge install - Stillen Rotors Banks Header - and BEER, in the fridge! |
