Help on guidelines on an ax15 installation , women's bra size helps?
Next week I'll be ready to embark on swapping out an ax15 transmission
on a YJ 92, low on cash, average novice mechanical skill. Being that I have not performed this with a 4wd drive vehicle before and its been some 12years since I did anything like this, I'm looking for any tips, website instructions, personal journals...prayers, you name it. One break is the clutch and the bearings... (throughout and pilot)? were replaced just 8 months ago. So I don't have to open up the bell housing... at least I don't think so. The synchronizers have become progressively worse, eliminated wrong fluid, low fluid ect, so I already purchased a refurbished ax-15. I know I need beer and a clevage bearing lady assistant to make things go better, but through anything and as much detail as possibloe if you would please! Thanks |

On my CJ, I made a sling from the roll cage (I have a 6-point cage) to hold
the trans and tcase and control the drop. Then I held the trans and tcase up with a floor jack and took the skid plate down. Then I removed the bolts and other stuff that gets in the way, and lowered the floor jack while holding the load with the sling. You will be opening the bellhousing again, puny Japanese

Can you remove the boot and the access plate over the shifter instead
of cutting through the floor board? I think that is how I did it...plus 2 long extensions and a wobble adapter. |
